2024 Dortmund Opera “La Traviata”
“The premiere is sung by Anna Sohn, who impressed the audience here last year at the opening premiere as Mimì in Puccini's La bohème. With her intense acting, she moves the audience and enables them to participate in Violetta's fate while inspiring with great dramatic heights that can change in a flash into deep vulnerability.”
- OPER!
“Anna Sohn, who has a beautiful voice and confident technique, is an impressive Violetta. She masters the breakneck runs and roulades of her big aria in the first picture, the vocal turmoil of intoxication, inner emptiness and longing for love with verve; She finds a wealth of vocal values and nuances for the emotional rollercoaster between indignation, despair, and renunciation in the dialogue with Germont père.”
-Opernwelt
“Violetta is excellently cast with Anna Sohn. She is the highlight of the ensemble.”
- WDR 3 Tonart, Mosaik
“Dortmund’s new “Traviata” is a triumph. Anna Sohn's touching role portrait is even surpassed by a singing culture that carries the piano of patient melancholy through the throat as effortlessly as the murderous coloratura of “Sempre libera”. When Anna Sohn received the final applause, the audience literally stood on their heads.”
- Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung
“Everything is perfect in this opening production at the Dortmund Opera: the great production, the great stage, the costumes, fantastic soloists, especially the outstanding Anna Sohn in the title role. If you can see a “Traviata” like this and experience Anna Sohn as the title character, you don’t have to go to Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, or Salzburg.”

“The singing and acting this evening are both without exception convincing: ...but also the sad, deep and vulnerable glow of Anna Sohn's Héléna.”

- Forumopera.com (France)
“Anna Sohn sings Héléna with a lyrical voice and with a pure timbre, carried by a breath that is nourished by the love she feels for her fiancés and by the despair that his betrayal causes.”

2023 Greek National Opera /
Odeon Herodes Atticus “Madama Butterfly”
Anna Sohn makes Butterfly's tragedy clear with a rare naturalness and anti-diva-like "purezza": While her delicate, angelic voice initially has something distinctly feminine and pure, it is only when she abruptly matures into a betrayed woman that she allows herself to express bold emotions in reverberant tones. The soprano replaces the classic Italian spinto attack with an unique inner glow and finely placed, well-projected pianissimi, placing her interpretation far more in the lyrical line of Mirella Freni than in the volcanic, dramatic one of Maria Callas.
-Opernwelt
The Korean soprano Anna Sohn - an ensemble member of the Dortmund Opera, where we highly appreciated her in Frédégonde last season - is a top-class Butterfly. Her voice is elegant, homogeneous, with radiant depth and harnesses exceptional talent — a powerful resource — for the great Odéon Herodes Atticus Theater.

2023 Oper Dortmund “La Bohème”
Yet, the highlight of this Dortmund 'Bohème' is Anna Sohn as Mimì. She is truly a 'femme fragile', a shy lover who already carries death with her in the first act. She shows with her emotionally blazing soprano how her love for Rodolfo allows the consumptive flower embroiderer to blossom. And the way she forms lines in pianissimo when Mimì's strength dwindles is deeply touching and of the greatest vocal art.

Anna Sohn as Mimì was an experience!
An ideal Mimì in facial expressions, presentation, and singing.

Anna Sohn draws Mimì with a vulnerability that gets under your skin. Her soprano has beautiful lyrical bows with great radiance in the high notes. With feminine delicacy, she performs the famous aria "Mi chiamano Mimì"...

2021 Oper Dortmund, Frédégonde
Above all, Anna Sohn, the actual main character of the piece, shines and touches with the lyrical charm of her agile soprano.
-Concerti
Anna Sohn embodies the character, who suffers on a large scale and is therefore more touching, with looks as deep and melodies as wide as the Atlantic in Brittany. A strong lyric soprano and even with a French flair.
-Oper!
Sohn impresses with her radiant soprano and luminous highs and particularly scores in the big duet in the second act with Mérowig. In the film scenes she gives the character a deep melancholy.
